Overview
The 2010 AIAM Conference is to be held in Adelaide, South Australia with the theme for the Conference this year is "Animal Management: Pulling it all together"
The Institute’s conference planning team is preparing a full two and a half day animal management lecture program and one full day of Animal Management Officer training on Tuesday 5th October.
While the business of setting final content for session themes and lecture streams will be structured along the following (General) outline:
-
There will be a main body of lectures (about 60-70%) on central animal control and regulation business. This is material that involves the day to day subjects involved at staff, management and policy levels in Local Government.
-
This central element of the conference will be supported by about 30-40% of supplementary lecture content that reflects the larger social environment in which animal control and regulation operates.
-
There will, of course, be a variable (though usually substantial) degree of convergence of these two basic conference themes in many of the papers presented at the conference.
-
The larger social environment referred to above generally includes components relevant to the following:-
• Animal welfare aspects and interactions in Animal Management
• Animal behaviour and how it affects Animal management
• Sociological aspects relating to pets, people and community
• Business management themes involved in Animal Management service delivery
